CARRBORO, N.C. — Eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 were closed for about 90 minutes Monday morning when a tractor-trailer jackknifed in Orange County, authorities said.

The truck driver told state troopers that another truck stopped unexpectedly in front of him at about 9 a.m., causing him to jackknife near the N.C. Highway 86 interchange, said Sgt. David Hawkins of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

A witness told troopers that there was no other truck involved, Hawkins said, but no charges are expected in the case.

No injuries were reported.

The tractor-trailer blocked both eastbound lanes for about 30 minutes, and traffic was diverted onto the median to get around the trailer. Both lanes reopened by 10:30 a.m.
