Football fans will feel Sandy's winds, some rain
Hurricane Sandy will play a part in college football games across eastern North Carolina Saturday, forecasters said, although the storm will not be strong enough to wash out any contests.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Hurricane Sandy will play a part in college football games across eastern North Carolina Saturday, forecasters said, although the storm will not be strong enough to wash out any contests.
In Chapel Hill, where the University of North Carolina Tar Heels welcome the North Carolina State University Wolfpack at 12:30 p.m., clouds will dominate but fans should stay mostly dry. The chance for rain at game time is only about 20 percent.
It's a different story to the east, where the East Carolina Pirates welcome the Navy Midshipmen at 3:30 p.m. The chance for rain there is 80 percent and tropical storm-force winds could be in effect.
"Saturday afternoon and Sunday, we'll see tropical storm force winds affect the eastern part of the state," said WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze.
