DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police are investigating after human remains were discovered Sunday in a wooded area near West Point on the Eno Park.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a man flagged down a patrol officer and said he found remains in the woods off of North Roxboro Road.

Officers said the remains were human and appeared to have been in the woods for a long time. The person's race, sex, age or cause of death had not been determined late Sunday.

Anyone with information about the remains was asked to call the Criminal Investigations Homicide Unit at 919-560-4440 or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers never have to identify themselves.
