Human Remains Found in Chatham County

The remains were found off Mount Carmel Church Road by two men scouting hunting areas, authorities said.

Authorities said they were checking the remains against missing persons cases to try to identify the remains. Forensics experts in the State Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill also were checking the remains against dental records.

Details about the cause of death or how long the remains were there weren't released.
