How much rain so far?

Thought I'd post a quick look at how much rain we've gotten in this round of active weather that set in late last week. We often show you a 24 or 48-hour rainfall total on the air, and you can look some of that up on our website as well.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Thought I'd post a quick look at how much rain we've gotten in this round of active weather that set in late last week. We often show you a 24 or 48-hour rainfall total on the air, and you can look some of that up on our website as well.

However, this is getting to be a lengthy stretch of days with rain in at least parts of the area, so it's handy to take a bit longer view. This is a 7-day estimate from the NWS Precipitation Analysis Page based on radar rainfall measurements calibrated with surface gauge readings.

Red colors indicate more than 5 inches, and there are places along the outer banks that have topped 10 inches in that span. Just within our viewing area, we've ranged from less than a half-inch in a few spots in Sampson County to over 6 inches a little west of Roxboro.

We'll have chances of rain each day the rest of this week as well, though there are big question marks regarding the quantity.
