Hope Mills woman attacked; man sought

John Willie McKoy is accused of kicking in the door of an Elcar Street home at about 3 a.m. Friday and beating the woman for about a half hour.

HOPE MILLS, N.C. — Authorities continued on Saturday to search for a Hope Mills man wanted in the near beating death of a local woman.

John Willie McKoy, 28, whose last known address is 5504 N.C. Highway 87 South, is accused of kicking in the door of an Elcar Street home at about 3 a.m. Friday and beating the woman for about a half hour.

When deputies arrived at the home, they found the woman had been stabbed, choked and had numerous bruises on her face. She was listed in serious condition at an area hospital. Her name has not been released.

McKoy is described as a black man, about 5-foot-11 inches tall and 175 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion.

Anyone with information about McKoy’s whereabouts is asked to call the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500.
