Cumberland County Sheriff’s detectives charged a Hope Mills teen with slashing the face of her companion with a knife.

HOPE MILLS — Cumberland County Sheriff’s detectives charged a Hope Mills teen with slashing the face of her companion with a knife.

Jessica Michelle Leal, 18, of 5735 Hilltop Dr., was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury.

Investigators said Leal severely injured 17-year old Terra Madison, of 350 Grimes Road, Tuesday during a fight that broke out at the victim’s home. Madison suffered a laceration to the face and was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment.

Leal, who was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond, is scheduled to make a first court appearance in District Courtroom 2-B on Wednesday.
