Hope Mills man charged with fatally shooting step-brother

HOPE MILLS, N.C. — Cumberland County sheriff’s detectives say a Hope Mills man shot his step-brother to death.

James Earl Robinson, 49, of 3234 Pelligrini Ave., was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Marcus Wayne Shipman.

Detectives said Shipman, 26, was shot at about 6 p.m. Wednesday during an argument with Robinson. Paramedics transported Shipman by ambulance to Cape Fear Valley Medical where he later died.

Authorities held Robinson in the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond. He's first court appearance was scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
