Hope Mills bank robbed

A man went into the bank, at 2495 Hope Mills Road, shortly after 12:30 p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding money, police said. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

HOPE MILLS, N.C. — Police were searching Wednesday for a man who robbed an RBC Bank branch in Hope Mills.

The man went into the bank, at 2495 Hope Mills Road, shortly after 12:30 p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding money, police said. He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Witnesses told police that he might have gotten into a bronze- or rust-colored Chevrolet S-10 pickup that was parked at a nearby Hardee's.

The robber was described as a white or Hispanic man in his mid 30s to mid 40s, wearing blue jeans, a tan sweatshirt with a design on the front, brown work gloves, a black knit hat and sunglasses.
