Hooded jackets recalled
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalls a bevy of hooded jackets because they pose a strangulation risk.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recalled a bunch of hooded jackets today.
Of course, it makes sense for a hooded jacket to actually have a string that you can tie around your chin to keep the hood up. But for young kids, those strings pose a strangulation risk.
In 1996, the commission issued guidelines that recommended that any string in a hood in jackets sized 2T to 12 should be removed. Drawstrings also are problematic. Velcro, snaps, elastic and buttons are better closures, they found. You can read more about the guidelines on this PDF.
Most of the sweatshirts were sold exclusively at Burlington Coat Factory. They include:
