COLUMBIA, S.C. — Some Christmas-themed billboards are sparking controversy in South Carolina.
Some are calling for the Palmetto State Armory to remove a billboard which features the image of a handgun with a suppressor and the words "Silent Night."
Another one reads five "golden rings" with an image of a loaded revolver.

Some gun owners don't see the big deal, but others say the ads go too far.

"'Silent Night' is a beautiful song. And I'm Jewish, but I was offended for the Christian community that they would try to make that play on words and images," said attorney Jack Swerling.
Adam Ruonala of the armory said there is no plan to remove the billboards.

"There's a lot of people that really enjoy the humor behind the advertisement," he said. "There are some people in our community that don't necessarily like it. We've spoken to them directly."
