RAEFORD, N.C. — House of Raeford Inc. has informed state officials that it will close a poultry processing facility in Hoke County in July, eliminating more than 1,000 jobs.

The company filed the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification notices with the state Department of Commerce last Friday. It lists July 13 as the closing date for the plant, which employs a total of 1,060 workers.

House of Raeford announced in March that it would close the plant, a hatchery in Rose Hill and turkey growing operations in eastern North Carolina in four to six months.
