Hoke store clerk shot during robbery

A clerk at a convenience store in Hoke County was shot during an armed robbery on Wednesday night, the sheriff's office announced Thursday.

LUMBER BRIDGE, N.C. — A clerk at a convenience store in Hoke County was shot during an armed robbery on Wednesday night, the sheriff's office announced Thursday.

Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said that clerk Nasir Husein was critically injured in the shooting at the Zip N Mart, at Arabia and Golf Course roads in Stonewall, around 9 p.m. Husein was taken to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery.

Peterkin said that detectives are searching for several individuals who might have been involved in the shooting.
