FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — A motorist struck a man walking along a road north of Fuquay-Varina early Sunday and then drove away, state troopers said.

Troopers said that Arthur Doucette, 35, went for a walk along Hilltop Needmore Road around 3:45 a.m. to get some air after attending a concert with his family. A vehicle traveling west struck him.

Doucette suffered head trauma and leg fractures, but his injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening, troopers said. He was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh.

Troopers did not have a description of the vehicle that struck Doucette.
