Central NC under heat advisory on Monday
With temperatures expected to reach 100 degrees on Monday, central North Carolina counties will be under a heat advisory from noon until 7 p.m.

Monday's advisory comes as the region is expected to experience its 12th consecutive day of temperatures above 90 degrees.
The record is 24 days, set in 1995.
Blistering temperatures will stay put all week, with a high of 100 forecast for Tuesday as well.
A chance of late afternoon or early evening showers persists for much of the week.
“It’s going to feel summer plus, if you will,” WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said. “Kind of like we’ve had for the last week and a half where we’ve been climbing into the 90s and hit triple digits a couple of times. The next few days will be a continuation of that pattern.”
But relief from the extreme heat could arrive by next Sunday, shattering the chance to break the record.
“It’s uncertain yet whether that’s going to happen,” Moss said. “Hopefully, by the time we get to Sunday or so, it’s quite possible we’ll be staying in the 80s for a change. But we’ll have to watch that the next few days.”
Sunday also marks the summer solstice, which is the longest day of daylight in the northern hemisphere. The event drew about 23,000 revelers to Stonhenge, southwest of London, to watch the sun beam through the rocks.
