The N.C. Museum of History will host a free program for kids in kindergarten to second grade.

From the Mountains to the Sea, North Carolina is Home to Me is 10 a.m. to noon, July 29, at the downtown Raleigh museum.

Here is a description of the program: "What makes North Carolina so unique? In part, the histories of the state’s three regions. Dig deep and mine for your own gemstones to learn about mining in the mountains; help create a farm as you delve into agricultural traditions in the coastal plain, and weave thread into fabric while discovering farm-to-factory relationships in the piedmont—all have shaped North Carolina."

Registration is required for this one. You can fill out the registration form online.
