HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Police have arrested a suspect in a Saturday afternoon shooting along U.S. Highway 70 in Hillsborough.

Scorpio White, 20, was charged with first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and firing into an occupied residence, Hillsborough police said.

Investigators accused White of killing one person and wounding another in a house at 556 Cornelius St./U.S. 70 shortly before 1 p.m. The injured person was expected to make a full recovery, authorities said.

After the shooting, officers used K-9 units and walked through woods around the house to search for the shooter.

Police said the shootings were not random and were the result of an ongoing dispute.

White was to be transported to the Orange County Jail after being treated for a hand injury at the hospital.

Police said that the investigation was ongoing and was possible more suspects will be arrested.

White was sentenced to probation for simple assault in Orange County in 2004, according to state Department of Correction records.
