Hillsborough man killed two years after surviving one shooting

CBS News affiliate WFMY News reports that shots were fired into an SUV driven by LaKendrick Watts, 33, in the 2500 block of High Point Road shortly after 4:30 a.m. The SUV rolled over a curb and flipped over in a parking lot.

Watts was taken to Moses Cone Hospital, where he died.

Police locked down the Player's Club, near the scene of the shooting, during the preliminary investigation, WFMY reports. No arrests have been made.

Watts had survived being shot during what Hillsborough police called an attempted robbery on May 30, 2008.

Four suspects, all from Durham, were charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Hakeem Kyri Hubbard, 20, was convicted in June 2009 of aiding and abetting armed robbery and aiding and abetting discharging a firearm into property, according to state Department of Correction records. He is scheduled for release in September 2014.

DOC records show that Jasmine Denise White, 19, was convicted in February of speeding to elude arrest and accessory after the fact to a felony. She was sentenced to 24 months' probation.

The other two suspects – James Benjamin Bolds III, 23, and Gilbert Devon Rochelle, 21 – were not convicted in the shooting.
