CARY, N.C. — A 24-year veteran of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and a Fayetteville man were arrested at about 1 a.m. Saturday after a fight at a Cary bar, officials said.

Kenneth Ray Snead, 47, of 3347 Renaissance Park Place, Cary, was charged with resisting a public officer and being intoxicated in public.

According to Cary police, Snead, John Allen Lauby and a third man got into a fight inside World of Beer, at 2036 Renaissance Park Place, at about midnight.

When officers arrived, they separated Snead and Lauby in the parking lot of the bar. Neither man was cooperative, and it took three officers to subdue Snead, officials said.

Lauby, 46, of 517 Alliance Head Road, Fayetteville, was charged with carrying a concealed gun and being intoxicated and disruptive.

The third man involved in the fight fled the scene before police arrived. He has not been identified.

A spokesman for the Highway Patrol said Saturday that Snead, a First Sergeant assigned to the patrol's headquarters, has been placed on administrative duty following the arrest.
