CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is looking for new information that might help them solve the hit-and-run deaths of two bicyclists outside Chapel Hill nearly a year ago.

Ivin Levander Scurlock, 41, of Carrboro, and Alexandria Nicole Simou, 40, of Chapel Hill, were riding on U.S. Highway 15-501 South when someone hit them from behind and they were thrown from their bikes.

Both were found around 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 19 lying in the southbound lanes. Scurlock died at the scene, and Simou died at a local hospital.

There were no witnesses to the crime, and investigators say they have no description of the vehicle that hit them. They do, however, believe it had front-end and windshield damage.

Anyone with information that could help investigators should call the Highway Patrol at 336-732-2551 or 919-733-3861.
