Highway Patrol seeks ID of accident victim

The State Highway Patrol on Wednesday asked the public's help to identify a man who was killed by an SUV last month while walking near Wake Forest.

RALEIGH, N.C. — The State Highway Patrol on Wednesday asked the public's help to identify a man who was killed by an SUV last month while walking near Wake Forest.

The man was in the middle of N.C. Highway 96 near the intersection of Bird Dog Lane when he was hit in the pre-dawn hours of Dec. 26, authorities said.

Investigators located several different forms of identification on him that included the aliases Mateo Martin Rodriguez and Camilo Avending Urieta, but they have been unable to determine his true identity and locate any possible next of kin.

Any leads on the man's identity can be reported to the Wake County Highway Patrol office at 919-733-4400 or the Raleigh Highway Patrol communication center at 919-733-3861.
