Highway Patrol searching for SUV in fatal I-40 crash
The State Highway Patrol asked for the public's help Tuesday to locate an SUV believed to have caused a three-car crash that killed one man and closed westbound Interstate 40 in Garner.

GARNER, N.C. — The State Highway Patrol asked for the public's help Tuesday to locate an SUV believed to have caused a three-car crash that killed one man and closed westbound Interstate 40 in Garner.
A Pontiac Trans Am driven by Paul Eric Rosequist was eastbound on I-40 near the Jones Sausage Road exit at about 11:15 a.m. when a burgundy Chevrolet SUV or GMC Envoy suddenly cut in front of it, causing the Trans Am to veer into the median, the Highway Patrol said. The Trans Am went through a wire guard rail and crossed into the westbound lanes, where it hit a Chevrolet Impala driven by Elizabeth Langdon.
The Impala then swerved to the right and struck a Kia Sorrento driven by Judith Barefoot, the Highway Patrol said. The Impala and the Sorrento wound up on the right shoulder of westbound I-40.
Rosequist, 62, of Garner, died at WakeMed of his injuries. Langdon, 66, of Clayton, suffered serious injuries, while Barefoot, 70, of Clayton, suffered what authorities said were non-life-threatening injuries.
Westbound I-40 traffic was diverted onto the Jones Sausage Road exit for about two hours while troopers investigated the crash and cleared the wreckage.
The SUV troopers are trying to locate was last seen traveling east on I-40.
