State troopers were investigating a fatal hit-and-run early Sunday in Robeson County.

<b>LUMBERTON, N.C.</b> — State troopers were investigating a fatal hit-and-run early Sunday in Robeson County.

Clayton Adam Carter, 20, of 1026 Lenards Drive in Lumberton, was hit just before midnight Saturday on N.C. Highway 72 near Evergreen Church Road, troopers said.

Authorities said they don't know if Carter was walking in the road or crossing the road.
