High-speed chase ends in crash in Wake Forest; Durham man arrested

A 23-year-old Durham man was arrested Tuesday morning after leading authorities on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash in a Food Lion parking lot on Capital Boulevard in Wake Forest.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — A 23-year-old Durham man was arrested Tuesday morning after leading authorities on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash in a Food Lion parking lot on Capital Boulevard in Wake Forest.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Darryl Aaron White, of 1320 Vickers Ave., fled from authorities in a stolen 2016 Dodge Charger after being stopped for speeding on Interstate 85 in Vance County.

Troopers said White was traveling 82 mph in a 65-mph zone when he was stopped. After a brief conversation with a trooper, White fled south on I-85.

Troopers were able to stop White in the parking lot of a Food Lion near the intersection of Capital Boulevard and N.C. Highway 98.

White was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with felony speeding to elude, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felony assault with a motor vehicle, careless and reckless driving, and driving with a suspended license.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
