Henderson police arrest two in bank robbery

Witnesses told police that the robbers fled in a 1991 Honda, but officers spotted them walking on Skenes Avenue shortly after. They arrested one immediately and caught the second after he ran into a wooded area, police said.

Officers found the 1991 Honda on Wilkins Avenue and determined that it had been stolen from Ross Mill Road. Police said an undisclosed amount of stolen money was recovered.

Amils Drew, 22, of 1054 N. Pinkston St., and Ahmad Dehaven Burwell, 20, of 637 Marshall St., were charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and felonious larceny of a vehicle.

The Federal Bureau of Investigations Robbery Task Force is investigating the robbery.

According to state Department of Correction records, Drew was on probation after being released from prison in February. He served a little more than two years for possession of a firearm, inciting riot and a probation violation, DOC records say. The probation stemmed from a 2006 conviction for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

DOC records show that Burwell was released from prison Aug. 2. He served two months after the revocation of his parole stemming from 2008 convictions for driving with a revoked license and a seat belt violation.
