HENDERSON, N.C. — About a dozen members of the Henderson Fire Department were working Tuesday to put out hot spots from a blaze that started almost 24 hours before, Chief Daniel Wilkerson said.

An abandoned warehouse at 106 E. Spring Street owned by H.O. Falkner & Sons caught fire at about 3:30 p.m. Monday, state investigators said. The warehouse and some outbuildings were destroyed.

Agents with the State Bureau of Investigation were on the scene Wednesday searching for the cause of the fire.

Wilkerson said coal and wood inside the building added fuel to the fire.
