Heavy fire, smoke seen at Fayetteville apartment fire

Firefighters battled an apartment fire at the former Cambridge Arms Apartments Monday night.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Firefighters battled an apartment fire at the former Cambridge Arms Apartments Monday night.

The fire was in apartment 38A of the Barrington Place Apartment Homes. No injuries were reported, and about 25 firefighters responded to the fire.

“Upon arrival of the first fire unit there was heavy smoke and fire showing from a downstairs apartment and extending upwards towards second floor apartments,” the Fayetteville Fire Department said in a statement. “First arriving crews have been able to stop the spread of the fire and contain it as of this time to the one first floor apartment.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
