RALEIGH, N.C. — Swift Creek Elementary School in Raleigh dismissed students at noon Thursday because of issues with its heating system, according to a Wake County Public School System spokeswoman.

School staff will stay at the school until every child can get home safely. Bus drivers will return students to school if no one is at the bus stop to meet them.

It's the second day classes have been disrupted at the school.

Late Wednesday morning, students had to wait outside briefly after reports of smoke coming from the boiler room.

The school system said on its Facebook page that the main building lost heat due to a malfunctioning boiler.
