Harnett County couple charged in rape
Loretta Lynn Smith, 22, and Anthony James Langley, 42, each face charges of first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping and first-degree sexual offense.

LILLINGTON, N.C. — A Harnett County couple is charged in the rape of a woman whose children they were babysitting, authorities said Tuesday.
Loretta Lynn Smith, 22, and Anthony James Langley, 42, each face charges of first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping and first-degree sexual offense.
They were arrested on Aug. 12. Bond was set at $250,000 each.
Officers said the 21-year-old victim told authorities she was tied up and raped when she went to pick up her children at the couple’s home on Overhills Road. The date of the incident was not available.
Investigators believe Langley raped the woman and Smith restrained her during the assault.
The children did not appear to be assaulted, authorities said.
