ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — A man was stabbed to death during a fight after a Halloween party in Roanoke Rapids early Sunday, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Joshua Luke Green attended a costume party at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post and got into a fight in the parking lot, Capt. Jay Burch said.

Green and the others involved left, Burch said, but they crossed paths again on Mills Street, and another fight ensued.

Green was stabbed twice in the side and cut on the neck. Friends drove him to Halifax Regional Medical Center, where he died from  his injuries.

Curtis Wayne Edwards, 43, and Kasey O'Neal Turner, 23, both of Roanoke Rapids, were charged with first-degree murder in Green's death. Both were denied bond and scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 7.

Both suspects have a history of assault charges, according to state Department of Correction records.

Edwards' 24-year-long criminal record includes misdemeanor convictions for assault inflicting serious bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon and assault on a public official, records show. He has served one two-month jail sentence.

Turner has been convicted of misdemeanor simple assault and assault on a female, as well as common-law robbery, communicating threats, larceny and drug charges. Records state he is on probation for a January conviction for possessing stolen goods and has served one five-month jail sentence.
