HALIFAX, N.C. — A Halifax County teacher’s aide was arrested after investigators said she assaulted a disabled student, authorities said Wednesday.

Dozine Williams Jones, 54, of Enfield, is charged with assault in connection with the June incident at Northwest Halifax High School. Halifax County Sheriff’s Detective Joseph Sealey said staff at the student’s group home noticed bruising on the student’s leg and called authorities.

A spokesman with Halifax County schools said Jones was suspended when the allegation was made in June and fired in October.

Jones was held on a $1,000 bond and has a court appearance set for Jan. 23.
