Hackers alter grades at Panther Creek High School
Camille Holmes Hedrick, the Panther Creek High School principal, informed parents Thursday that the school and Cary police were investigating an unauthorized access to the school's computer system which resulted in some grades being altered.
Posted — Updated"A few students' grades were impacted and their parents have been notified," Hedrick said in a letter to parents.
The letter said that for all other students all academic data, including SAT and ACT scores, GPAs and grades, was not affected.
Hedrick said that the school planned to contact and send corrected transcripts to the universities and colleges of all students who sent or uploaded inaccurate documents.
"We want to assure you that we take our academic integrity as seriously as you do," she said.
Hedrick did not detail how or when the files were accessed, or what the school was doing to make them more secure.
