DURHAM, N.C. — Durham County deputies were searching Thursday for a man wanted in a Wednesday evening shooting.

Deputies responded to a shooting at 1002 Cortez St., just outside the Durham city limits, at about 5:40 p.m. Wednesday and found James Warren Holsclaw, 21, with a life-threatening wound, authorities said.

During a search of the shooting scene, deputies seized several pounds of marijuana, $2,625 in cash and two stolen weapons, authorities said.

Investigators identified Rashad Ahmad Adams, 20, as a suspect in the shooting. They searched his last known address, at 110 Adlett Lane in Durham, but they couldn't locate him.

A warrant was issued for Adams' arrest on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Anyone with information on Adams' whereabouts is asked to call Detective Sharon Burmahl at 919-560-0900.
