Groups collaborate to ensure babies keep their bottoms dry

Starting this month, the Diaper Bank will supply The Diaper Train with more than 70,000 diapers each month, helping to sustain the local distribution program that serves about 1,000 children each month, according to a press release.

Leaders from both groups said the collaboration will help both groups move forward on their goals to ensure that babies' bottoms are covered.

“This partnership is a unique opportunity to leverage each organization’s strengths to better serve the community,” said Michelle Old, the diaper bank's executive director. “The Diaper Train will continue its work to provide diapers directly to low-income residents of Wake County. Diaper Bank of North Carolina will support this work through diaper procurement and distribution logistics.”

“By joining with Diaper Bank of North Carolina, The Diaper Train can focus our efforts on getting diapers to families in need and identifying service gaps, while supporting DBNC’s statewide efforts to source diapers through diaper drives and donations by individuals and corporations,” said Sharon Hayes with The Diaper Train.

The Diaper Bank operates in three regions, with a main branch serving the Triangle and others in the Greater Triad and Lower Cape Fear areas.
