Group protests NC State forest sale
A group of North Carolina State University students, faculty and alumni placed more than 600 baby pines trees in Chancellor Randy Woodson's driveway to protest the pending sale of Hofmann Forest.
Posted — UpdatedThe group says it wants university leaders to continue using the 80,000-acre tract of land, located near Jacksonville, for research and education and to consider input from alumni and stakeholders before moving forward.
"We have set this up to try to get the chancellor's attention, to get him to take notice and see that this is a bad deal for N.C. State University," said protester Ron Sutherland. "Hofmann Forest is too important to let go without a fight."
