Grifton teen charged in school bus knife fight
A 16-year-old girl was charged Thursday with attacking another girl with a knife on a Lenoir County school bus.

Authorities said the two students got into an altercation on the bus that required the driver to pull the bus over and separate them. With one student placed in the front of the bus and the other in the back, the driver tried to finish the route.
One of the girls then pulled out a pocketknife and charged at the other, cutting her on her cheek, authorities said. The driver again stopped the bus, grabbed the knife, separated the girls and called for help from Lenoir County deputies.
The girl who was cut didn't need medical treatment for what authorities described as a small laceration.
Yunivar Figueroa was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon on school property and disorderly conduct on school property. She was placed in the Lenoir County jail under a $1,000 bond.
The other girl was charged with simple affray from the physical altercation that occurred before she was assaulted, authorities said.
