GREENVILLE, N.C. — Friends of a woman killed outside her Greenville home said she was shot by a man who she had got into an argument with for shooting a gun in the air several hours earlier.

The Daily Reflector of Greenville reports Lorraine Pearson, 47, died early Friday morning after she was shot in the neck.

Police say a murder warrant has been issued for Markelby Ward, 21, also known as "Scooter."

Neighbors said Pearson confronted Ward several hours before she was shot after Ward rode a bicycle down the street outside her Greenville home, firing a handgun in the air.

Friends said Ward shot the woman as the two began arguing again several hours later.

According to state Department of Correction records, Ward served 4 months in 2008 after his probation for larceny over $1,000 was revoked.
