Greenville man charged with soliciting child

Derek Ray Phelps, 23, of 2111 Sir Norman Court, was arrested Thursday on two counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor and five counts of soliciting a child by computer to commit an unlawful sex act.

Christy Wallace, a spokeswoman for the Pitt County Sheriff's Office, said that Phelps had "inappropriate contact" with a 13-year-old boy.

She said the investigation is ongoing, and more charges might be filed.
