Granville carjacking suspect questioned, second at large

One suspect wanted for questioning in a Granville County carjacking was caught after a crash in Durham early Sunday, while a second eluded capture, police said.

DURHAM, N.C. — One suspect wanted for questioning in a Granville County carjacking was caught after a crash in Durham early Sunday, while a second eluded capture, police said.

Officers spotted the stolen 1997 Toyota 4-Runner near West Markham Avenue and Avondale Drive around 12:45 a.m. A short chase ensued until the Toyota crashed at Colonial Street, near Markham Avenue.

Two suspects got out the vehicle and ran, police said. Officers located one suspect, but the other escaped capture.

The suspect who was captured was transferred to the custody of the Granville County Sheriff's Office. He was interviewed and released, authorities said.

Police said Sunday evening they were still searching for Brion Tyler Moore, 19.

No other vehicle was involved in the crash, and no one was injured, police said.
