Friday is the first Friday of the month, which means it's First Friday in downtown Raleigh when galleries, museums and restaurants are open with special hours or deals.

It's a fun night for both adults and families, who are looking to do something a little different. I wanted to spotlight this unique opportunity:

On Friday, the N.C. Museum of Art and the downtown shop DECO Raleigh will team up to offer Get Drawn at DECO: First Friday with NCMA. It's 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, in the tiny park (called a parklet) outside of DECO, 19 W. Hargett St.

You can head over there where Raleigh artist Kiki Farish will draw your very own two-minute portrait. Drinks and snacks will be available. The event celebrates the art museum's current exhibit: Marks of Genius: 100 Extraordinary Drawings from the Minneapolis Museum of Art.

It's free!
