Goldsboro school reopens after nearby shooting

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Saint Mary’s School in Goldsboro was locked down as a precaution Wednesday afternoon after a man was shot nearby.

Police said that at 2:36 p.m., Marquis Omar Johnson reported being shot while driving and had parked his vehicle at St. Mary’s School at 1601 Edgerton Street.

Police said that Johnson, along with passenger Markael Jamar McFarland, had just left a convenience store near Holly Street and Madison Avenue when an unknown person shot at the car several times.

The vehicle was struck multiple times and Johnson was shot once in his lower extremities, according to ____. He was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

St. Mary’s School has since reopened.
