Goldsboro man gets 22-year sentence on drug charges

Rowland Phillip Robinson, 33, admitted guilt to one charge of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense. He was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine and will be supervised for five years after his release.

Prosecutors said that acting on a tip, police searched Robinson's residence on North William Street in July 2008. Police said they found a bag containing 20 grams of cocaine, two orange pills and $980 on him.

Officers also said that from Robinson's bedroom, they seized 120 grams of crack cocaine, two more plastic bags of crack cocaine and marijuana, a Rossi .38 caliber handgun and a North Carolina Department of Corrections ID card with Robinson's name and picture, among other items. They also found a police scanner and a Davis Industries .380 caliber handgun in the house.

Robinson had previous convictions dating to 1994, including drug trafficking, maintaining any place for a contraband substance, common-law robbery and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injuries, according to state Department of Correction records.
