GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A 33-year-old Goldsboro man was charged with multiple felonies Thursday in connection with three robberies that happened during a 10-day period in late September and early October.

Samuel Keith Best Jr., of 326 West Pine St., is charged with first-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree kidnapping, three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and four counts of assault by pointing a gun.

According to investigators, Best was responsible for a Sept. 28 robbery at a home on Denmark Street and two other robberies – on Sept. 29 and Oct. 7 – at Goldsboro convenience stores.

In each robbery, Best used a gun and demanded money before fleeing on foot, police said.

With the assistance of the Wilson Police Department and Wilson County Sheriff's Office, Goldsboro police located Best on Thursday at the Village Motor Lodge in Wilson after receiving a tip.

He was taken into custody without incident at about 5:30 p.m.

Best was in the Wayne County jail Friday under a $922,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to make a first court appearance Monday.
