SMITHFIELD, N.C. — A burglar took gifts from under a family's Christmas tree Saturday in Smithfield, including a television, sound bar and two tablets, according to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

A resident of the 3300 block of Highway 210 returned home early Sunday to find that her front door had been forced open and the gifts and other electronics stolen, authorities said.

Anyone with information about the break-in is asked to call the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office at 919-989-5000.
