Get your tickets for these upcoming family shows

The Carolina Ballet presents "Sleeping Beauty" this weekend ... May 20 to May 23. This is a longer ballet. For most kids, it's probably best for late grade schoolers and up. Tickets start at $20.

"Elmo's Green Thumb," a Sesame Street Live! show, hits the RBC Center June 3 to June 8. Tickets start at $12.

Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" will be at the Durham Performing Arts Center June 8 to June 13. Tickets start at $25. The DPAC also will present Disney's The Lion King and Shrek next year. Click here for the full schedule.

The N.C. Symphony's popular Summerfest series is back at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary and it's always popular with families. "Wizard of Oz" fans should note the July 10 performance featuring a screening of the movie with the symphony playing the soundtrack live on stage. Tickets start at $25. Kids 12 and under are free on the lawn.

"Star Wars: In Concert" stops at the RBC Center for two shows July 18. The major event features a full symphony orchestra, massive screens and film props. Or, in other words, heaven for pretty much any Star Wars fan. Tickets start at $25.

The N.C. Theatre presents "Annie" July 24 through Aug. 1 at the Progress Energy Center for Performing Arts. Tickets start at around $31. The N.C. Theatre will present "Little Shop of Horrors" in September.

Dan Zanes and Friends is back this summer at the N.C. Museum of Art at 4 p.m. Aug. 15. Tickets are $9 for kids ages 3 to 12 and $18 for adults. Great fun. The Open Dream Ensemble performance on Aug. 28 and Paperhand Puppet Intervention program on Sept. 10 and Sept. 11 also are family friendly. Click here for the musuem's full summer concert schedule.

And tickets also are available for the museum's popular film series, which includes family-friendly flicks such as "Monsters vs. Aliens" and "Where the Wild Things Are." The films are outdoors, so they do start late ... around 9 p.m. Maybe a good outing for tweens and teens.
