U.S. 1 reopens in Apex after gas leak

Apex police said that the road was closed from Ten-Ten Road to East Williams Street after a driver from Holly Springs ran over gas lines, resulting in a single-vehicle wreck.

APEX, N.C. — U.S. Highway 1 was closed in both directions Tuesday night in Apex following a gas leak.

Apex police said that the road was closed from Ten-Ten Road to East Williams Street after a driver from Holly Springs ran over gas lines, resulting in a single-vehicle wreck.

Nobody was injured.

No evacuations were immediately ordered as a result of the gas lead and police told people inside local hotels and restaurants to remain in place.

PSNC sealed the leak and the road reopened at about 8:35 p.m.
