RALEIGH, N.C. — As rain moves away from the area and a cold front moves in Friday, the weather should be ideal for the weekend ahead.

The drizzly rain seen by many drivers during commutes to work Friday morning didn't last the entire day and won't come back tonight, according to WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner.

Skies will be clear for the rest of Friday, and temperatures will remain mild and steady in the mid 60s before dropping tonight.

WRAL Meteorologist Mike Maze said to expect cool, dry weather for the next several days.

“Expect clear skies, light winds tonight and dry air. We’ll have temperatures fall into the high 30s to low 40s, so it will be a chillier night for sure,” Maze said. “If you’re going to area high school football games, it will be rather cool on the bleachers.”

The weather will be mild, but cooler, and breezy and dry for many Friday night events in the area, like First Friday in downtown Raleigh and at area high school football games.

"Grab a jacket if you're headed outdoors tonight, because it will be cool this evening, a lot cooler than it was yesterday," said Gardner. "It's going to feel a bit nippy, but mainly because of the wind."

Temperatures will be very cool overnight and into Saturday morning.

“We’re looking for a grand weekend. Tomorrow morning we’re looking at temperatures in the 40s, by lunchtime, we’ll be in the low 60s, mid-60s to low-60s tomorrow afternoon,” Maze said. “For Sunday morning, we expect temperatures to be in the 40s and then during the afternoon, we should warm up to near 70 degrees.

Bright sunshine and cooler, but mild, temperatures will continue throughout the weekend and well into next week. "The weather will be very, very nice," said Gardner.
