FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. — Fuquay-Varina's splash pad, which remained closed last year because of COVID, has reopened.

The popular outdoor spot with all kinds of devices the dump or spray water on you, opened over the weekend.

But, according to the town, a short-term water shortage advisory from one of its water suppliers is forcing the town to limits its hours of operation for now. It will be open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, until further notice.

Once the shortage advisory is over, the splash pad will operate 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., daily.

To play, Fuquay-Varina residents must have a Resident Splash Pad Card, which can be picked up at the town's community center. You'll need to bring a proof of residency such as a driver's license. The card is free, and it's free for residents to play at the splash pad.

For people who live outside Fuquay-Varina, tickets are $2 for all-day admission. One parent is admitted without charge, and children under the age of 2 also are free. All kids under the age of 13 must have a parent or adult supervising them.

The splash pad is at 900 S. Main St., Fuquay-Varina.

Check the town's website for more information.
