Ft. Bragg soldier shot outside Fayetteville apartment

A soldier stationed at Fort Bragg was shot outside his apartment Saturday evening during an attempted robbery.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A soldier stationed at Fort Bragg was shot outside his Fayetteville apartment Saturday evening during an attempted robbery.

Around 9 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 300 block of Crabapple Circle.

Officials say the soldier was sitting outside his apartment when two men approached him and started a conversation. During the conversation, one man asked the soldier for a cigarette and a beverage. When the soldier entered his apartment to get the items for the man, the two men pulled out handguns and attempted to rob the victim, shooting him in the leg.

The soldier was transported to Womack Army Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
