Freight train hits car in Wilson's Mills
A freight train demolished an abandoned car stuck on train tracks in Wilson's Mills early Friday, authorities said.
Posted — UpdatedWILSONS MILLS — A freight train demolished an abandoned car stuck on train tracks in Wilson's Mills early Friday, authorities said.
Police said the driver was probably unfamiliar with the area and went through a dead-end on Fire Department Road at a high rate of speed before jumping a guardrail and landing on the tracks. Investigators are trying to contact the car's owner to determine who was driving.
The train hit the car shortly after 4:30 a.m., and the car split in half, police said.
No one was injured in the wreck, authorities said.
